We understand how important data security is, particularly if you rely on us to host mission-critical websites.

It's why we operate and own a data center rather than renting space in one owned by someone else. We've been able to fit out the building just the way we want it, and we have our own staff on-site to take care of technical issues quickly.

Our data center is state-of-the-art. It opened early 2009, once we'd finished equipping it to our custom specification. The whole facility was designed to offer maximium security, reliability and efficiency.

The heart of our business

For security, our data center has an unassuming exterior. You'd never guess what was inside - and that helps keep everything safe.

Access is limited to essential personnel. We maintain a strong perimeter with strict access control. Our security staff are on-site 24/7 and we keep careful record of who is allowed into the server area.

All hardware is fully protected from fire, floods and natural disasters. In normal operation, power is drawn from the power grid but we operate uninterruptible supplies and have on-site generators, in case the external supply fails.

The servers are directly connected to Cisco-based LANs. Everything is safe behind a secure firewall with multiple layers of protection. We also operate regular backups and store copies of the data off site.

Power and efficiency

Our data center is also very efficient. We use the latest cold aisle containment air conditioning technology to keep all hardware cooled to an optimum temperature. The system keeps warm and cool air completely separate, and only cools the air directly round the servers and other hardware.

This is a highly-efficient cooling system which is very cost-effective. It's part of the reason we're able to offer excellent prices on all our web hosting services.
